He's a pervert. He jumps on unsuspecting women on park benches. And he's still got his job as a committee chairman in the Massachusetts state senate.
If you think you had a low opinion of the Massachusetts legislature, the opinion of the legislators themselves is even lower. Because if they thought their job was important, honorable or worthwhile, they would have fired sicko senator Jim Marzilli long ago. Instead, he's jetting off to Germany to represent Massachusett at some greenie convention, proudly displaying his business card "State Sen. Jim Marzilli: Committee Chair and (until recently) Committed Psycho."
And what has the state senate done about it? Nothing. Not one thing. Senate President Therese Murray was, until recently, defending Marzilli and opposing any senate action against him. But as the embarrassment begins to ferment into shame, she's now feigning outrage.
Senator Murray, we'll know you mean it when you DO something.
DO something about Mad Dog Marzilli. Throw him out! At the very least, strip him of his chairmanship. The state senate could have a quorum in Boston by lunctime today and have Marzilli out chasing ladies on the Rose Kennedy Greenway by cocktail hour.
When it looked like Sen. Kerry might get elected president, it took less than 24 hours for the House and Senate to change the law. If we had a leader in the Senate, Marzilli would be gone just as quickly. If Deval Patrick were a real leader, he'd hold a press conference today and demand it. He'd demand the firing of his "good friend" Sen. Wilkerson, too.
But there are no leaders in the Massachusetts state legislature. Just corrupt hacks, third-rate lawyers, intellectually-challenged liberal stooges and assorted hangers on. Every time you hear a state senator whining today about the "shame" of Sen. Marzilli, just remember that he could be voting to DO something about it instead.
He won't. Neither will Sen. Murray. They are like firefighters standing outside a burning building, complaining that someone ought to call 911.
